The Conservative Party is a political party in the United Kingdom. It is currently the governing party, having won a majority of seats in the House of Commons after the 2015 general election. The party's leader Theresa May is currently serving as Prime Minister. It is the largest party in local government with 9,028 councillors.
The Conservative Party was founded in 1834 from the Tory Party and was one of two dominant parties in the 19th century, along with the Liberal Party. In the 1920s, the Liberal vote greatly diminished and the Labour Party became the Conservatives' main rivals. Conservative Prime Ministers led governments for 57 years of the 20th century, including the notorious Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher. The Conservative Party's domination of British politics throughout the 20th century has led to them being referred to as one of the most successful political parties in the Western world.

The party is the largest political party in the London Assembly and currently is in the majority along with the UK Independence Party who reigns third largest in the Assembly.
Reformation[]
The Prime Minister Theresa May requested a new redirection for the Conservative Party to align more with a right-wing political spectrum due to an uproar with the increasing population of UKIP politicians. The Chairman was put off of the party's head chairman and move elsewhere. The new Chairman was assigned to the party's office on 5 May 2017 and many members began leaving the party.
